In Ultimate Fighting Championship, there comes a time when an intriguing and interestingly good controversy arises, which draws in a lot of publicity for the program and its contenders. Just like in the case of Floyd Mayweather Jr., a welterweight boxer who recently defeated Oscar "Golden Boy" De La Hoya. Mayweather has been putting down mixed martial arts fighters for quite some time now, even claiming how easy it would be to knock out and beat lightweight champion Sean Sherk.
In response to what Mayweather's has been yakking about and to take advantage of the all the hype, UFC president Dana White has invited Mayweather to fight Sherk in a multi-million dollar offer. However, Mayweather has taken back what he claimed before and has even explained that he was just joking.
Despite Mayweather's explanation about his fooling around, the UFC president has become disappointed with how the controversy turned out since Mayweather used to be a close friend of White. White has been especially offended by Mayweather's comments regarding his mixed martial arts fighters, a regrettable mistake Mayweather has admitted to.
As for Sherk, he is more than willing to go through with the bout and like Mayweather; he claims that the fight will be quick and easy, although he also believes that Mayweather is just all talk and no action.
As of the moment, the Sherk versus Mayweather fight appears to be cloudy.
Mayweather has already told other media outlets that he has no plans of pursuing the controversial bout. Meanwhile, fans can take delight in other UFC fights on Spike TV.
Mayweather, a 30-year old professional American boxer, is also known as "Pretty Boy." As a boxer, he has won numerous competitions and has acquired many medals such as the national Golden Gloves championships, a bronze medal in the 1996 Olympics, and has succeeded in numerous featherweight championships.
